Sprinter PA 14 Motor Home Build IS FINISHED!!!… (FOR NOW)… (Custom rear wheel carrier and wheel, Kenwood head unit, Remis Cab Blinds, Removable 4th Seat, Stone chip protector and Sun Visor, Huge Lift Kit)

Sprinter Motor Home FINISHED:

So For sanity and mine, this will be the last and hopefully, best post covering the build of my Sprinter Twin Hobie PA 14 Motor Home Build / Campervan.

1st:

I wanted to add some security to the back doors and decided I was going to fit a rear wheel carrier.

I also had the driver’s side frame made, this would be integral as the two half would join in the middle with a van lock system.

(the driver’s side is still not finished I will cover this when I get it completed)

Anyway, I went to WHEELIAMS AUTO SUPPLY Co.

I asked Will to make me a custom rack based on his normal design but extending the racks so they meet in the middle.

He kindly agreed (without question) and went away and knocked me up a set to my request.

I was super chuffed with them when they arrived and went about getting them on the van.

Fitting the lock ready for paint and my new steel wheel and tyre to be fitted.

We mounted them on the van welded and bolted the locking arrangement on the van.

Painted it refitted it added some ct1 for extra measure.

When it was dry I fitted the brand new shiny steel wheel and Goodrich Ko2 tyre with a hub cap to finish it off.

The tyre on the steel wheel is a different profile to the ones on the alloys on the van.

This makes all the wheels the same height for an even ride if i ever need to fit it.

Will is a super helpful friendly guy at very reasonable prices for his work which is a very high standard, contact him with any enquiries you might have he will endeavour to help where he can and meet customers requirements.

2nd:

A quick job was needed to add some hardwood trim to the rear of the van in the toilet area to make the edge good.

In case I didn’t cover it in an earlier post?? Fitment of the bonnet stone chip protector and sun-visor was a massive pain in the arse.

Also the wind deflectors. see below:

Whilst I was working out just how many people I could make this sleep I decided id fit an extra seat in the rear which lifts out and stows away in the rear storage area of the van. making the van sleep 2 adults and 2 kids. very handy for my family of 4.

I bought a set of mounting rails and a new seat from a middle set of Ford Tourneo.

This was swiftly installed as per the pictures below.

It’s very easy to get in and out folds up and down and doubles up as a table if anyone wants a multipurpose seat.

3rd:

I purchased a set of Remis sprinter blinds for the cab area as I didn’t want to give to put a stupid insulated cover over the window at night that some tosser could steal and then look in.

These are bloody expensive but are worth the money and are fantastic.

I am very happy with them and they are super easy to use and really convenient.

I then Removed the head unit I had previously bought that turned out to be utter shite and went all out on a huge Kenwood android auto beast.

Worth every penny and super fantastic it does everything you could ever want and is super easy to use and no more freezing screens when you need to make a turn with the sat nav on screen.

4TH:

I needed to get the van off the floor a little more.

As much ground clearance as I could muster without affecting handling and performance.

So i went about getting together the components needed to lift the van as high as I could.

I purchased a 50mm lift kit from Rhodes Vans

New extra heavy-duty leaf springs

And SUMO SPRINGS FOR THE FRONT AND REAR

I have Managed 3.5inches on the front and 4 inches on the rear.

I am very happy with the look and the extra ground clearance.

It also gives me the option of having the load capacity upgraded to 4.1 tonnes in the future.
