LEE ON SOLENT 11.08.2021

After the massive success of the previous trip to Lee on Solent targeting the Hounds, I decided, I’d head back for another session before they moved on as the water started to cool with autumn closing in fast.

Also, my Hobie Pa14 Dolly had finally been delivered after 7 months of waiting so I was like a kid at Xmas.

I loaded up the van with clothes and food made sure my fish finder batteries were fully charged and I had my bait.

Chucked the kids in the van with the missus and headed down to the beach.

We arrived around 10 pm and parked the van in an ideal spot for them to have a nice day at the beach by the van whilst I had easy launching access.

Bedding down for the night shortly after eagerly anticipating the days fishing ahead.

Waking, up early to my alarm at 5 am and I promptly jumped out of bed and got dressed trying not to wake the rest of the family.

I crept out of the van and unloaded all my gear. After around 30mins I was all set up and ready to hit the salt.

With no other yakkers or fellow fishermen in sight, I headed for the same mark I fished on the last great hound session with Jack.

For the first hour or so it was very slow but spirits were still very high, I kept checking the finder to see what was going on beneath me.

First, slow hour was a bit slow.

After the first slow hour or so, the Hounds started to appear and I knew it was “on”

From then on the fishing just got better and better, unlike the weather which got worse and worse but was still just about fishable.

The hours passed and the fish kept biting, it was turning out to be another fantastic session out the Solent.

After landing so many Hounds, I had lost count. I decided to take a few snaps of them going back strong, which is always great to see after them putting up a great fight right up to the net.

Before I knew it I was down to my last few baits and knew the end was near.

The fish were still biting so I decided I would stay out despite the weather being very choppy at this point. Making fishing the baits on the bottom on a tight line near impossible.

All my baits were soon gone.

All my baits were soon gone and I started to get packed down.

Rods in, rigs removed and kayak washed down. I headed back towards the shore and the van I could just about see in the distance.

After a short time, I was back at the beach and dragging the kayak up onto the beach. Followed by chucking it back on the PA14 Dolly which is so much better than any other cart I have used.

No longer required to tip your kayak on its side to shove the cart in the scupper holes. Nor do you require another person to lift the thing above your head so your associate can struggle underneath to insert the scupper cart.

After getting the kids to help drag it up the beach and back to the van I cleaned and dried my gear and got it all put away in the Pro Angler Sprinter Motor Home.

Packed up the kids and their stuff and headed home.

What a trip, it was great and way above expectations from the last great session with Jack.

Already planning the next expedition

Stayed tuned for more coming soon…
