Porthpean Beach Nr St Austell
This beach is set out of the way, just outside St Austell.
The Beach is a nice quiet place, although every year it seems to be getting busier??
The is a good size car park at the top of the hill but it fills very quickly in the warmer months.
The car park used to be run by an old man who sat in his little hut and charged £2 all day.
Last year it was £4 all day and this year it is now £5 all day. although a 5 pounds sterling for a whole days parking is not out of the norm in this area and Cornwall.
I am and so are others getting very annoyed cornish councils keep putting the prices up with nothing in return!
Also, you cannot pay with card or phone so every year I return I end up short of change as the price has risen.
NOTE: BRING LOTS OF CHANGE.
It is possible to drive down to the water to unload your kayak and gear.
Due to how fast the carp park fills up, I tend to park up and load up my Pro Angler 14 in the car park.
I then roll the PA14 down the hill backwards on the Hobie Trax 2-30 cart.
I then drive down to load on my return after fishing for the day.
Porthpean beach Nr St Austell
The water at Porthpean cove is calm most of the time and is clean and clear.
There are large sholes of fish coming in with the tides very close to shore and the rocks.
The cafe does hot and cold food and toilets which are normally fairly clean.
I like coming here every year for a fishing trip it’s fairly quiet and calm.
I would recommend this beach to families as well for the day out.
See you in the water.
