Chub Outkast Plus Stalking Rod 6ft 2.75lb Test

Chub Outkast Stalking Rod

I decided it was time to take my eldest child fishing.

This was a long while ago now.

When they started I wanted them to have proper rod and reel and learn to catch fish asap

Trying to keep them occupied and hopefully get them hooked on fishing too.

I decided a short, Strong, Good quality rod.

Was needed to take the abuse a small child would throw at it trying to learn to play, Potentially the biggest of carp in our local lakes.

In the end, I chose a Chub Outkast Plus Stalking Rod which is 6ft long, 2.75lb test curve.

I thought this would be a good rod to start with, So I can teach them to cast leads without snapping the tip and also yank stuck rigs out of mud and weed too.

This also makes a great spinning rod and has caught a few jack pike in the hands of my self and its owner.

I also use it as a float fishing rod sometimes when out in the PA14, Trying to hook a live bait too
.

Key Features

  • High modulus carbon construction
  • Powerful through action
  • Anti-flash matt blank finish
  • Robust double leg SIC guides
  • Japanese shrink wrap handle
  • Folding hook keeper ring
  • Gunmetal Anodised collars and butt cap
Chub Outkast

This is a light and strong rod blank and is great value for money, coming in the way cheaper than other rods of this spec on the market.

Chub Outkast

It has a nice Duplon handle, which feels great in the hand. It also features a nice machined alloy butt cap.

There is also a clip just above the reel seat, For clipping up your hook when sneaking around the lake or rods are in transit still set up.

The rod features 3 leg eyes throughout its length, Which are well whipped on and add a great finish.

Nice strong tip

The blank has loads of backbone, But is soft at the tip and has a lovely action to it.

We have genuinely landed 1lb carp all the way up to high 20lb and low 30lb pound carp on our France fishing trips with these and they handle all fish very well no matter how hard they pull.

All in all, this is a great little rod. I do think if I was purchasing another rod of this description, For my self.

Purely for carp fishing, I would have paid more and gone for a slightly different rod.

But for its intended purpose, I cannot fault it at all and it has stood up to everything that’s been thrown at it.

Thanks…
